The lesson begins with a 20-30 minute warm-up, remainder of the class involves kicking and punching; either in the 'air', or onto focus mitts and hand held kick shields. New techniques are introduced week by week according to your progress, a full range of self-defense techniques, including: awareness, assault deterrence, and setting verbal boundaries. Physical skills are practiced full contact and full force. This enables us to learn to overcome the freeze response and to strategize and assess options while in an adrenaline state. Classes are taught in a supportive environment that allows each student freedom to make her own choices. Scenarios start slowly and increase in realism as the students’ skills increase. Small class sizes allow for maximum personal attention and individualized instruction. Fitness will undoubtedly improve within the first few weeks as the body is strengthened and conditioned. All the classes will push you consistently through new limits, although you will be encouraged to choose your own pace throughout the session. Provided protective equipment is purchased, some of our lessons incorporate sparring, semi-contact fighting. Although this is encouraged only after 2-3 months. Sparring is Students own decision, those who wish otherwise will never be forced to do so.
Every muscle in your body will become more defined. Be prepared to ache a little after the first class, as you will discover muscles that have never been used before! Perhaps just improving your fitness is of interest to you - your choice - you are free to clearly define your own goals. The classes are there for your benefit and can therefore be tailored to your needs. The music keeps your adrenaline going and the buzz comes from the high-energy routine.
